SAFETY
WARNING! PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY OR INJURY TO BYSTANDER.
CHECK EVERY ARROW PRIOR TO SHOOTING AND NEVER SHOOT A DAMAGED ARROW.
Injury to the shooter or a bystander could occur from an arrow due to damage to the arrow, an arrow not suited for a bow, or a damaged bow. It is the responsibility of the shooter to take the necessary precautions to avoid injury to themselves and bystanders. ALL ARROWS MUST BE INSPECTED PRIOR TO SHOOTING. Damaged arrows and arrows suspected to have sustained damage MUST BE DISCARDED. Damage to an arrow may occur for many different reasons such as, but not limited to: transport, handling, impact from another arrow, impact with hard objects (includes game animals). Shooters must follow warnings, safety inspections below, and use good judgement and common sense to determine if an arrow is damaged and not safe for use.
Selecting the proper spine
Shooting arrows with shaft spines not suited to the bow could result in injury the shooter or a bystander. DO NOT SHOOT A SHAFT WITH A SPINE THAT IS NOT SUITED TO THE BOW.
Arrow Inspection
Be sure to inspect each arrow for damage prior to shooting. These inspections must also be completed on new arrows.
Check for physical damage to the shaft.
-
Visually inspect the entire shaft for damage such as cracks, splits, nicks, and dents. If damage is observed, DISCARD THE ARROW.
-
Feel for damage to the shaft. Rotate the shaft with one hand while feeling for damage with your finger and thumb of your other hand. Run your finger and thumb down the shaft as you rotate it and feel for damage such as cracks, splits, nicks, and dents. If damage is present, DISCARD THE ARROW.
-
Hold the shaft with thumb and finger on both ends of the shaft. Flex the arrow in an arc, bending away from you and others. Feel, look and listen for cracking. Rotate the arrow slightly after each time it is flexed. Be sure to flex all side of the shaft. If you hear, see, or feel cracking the shaft has been damaged, DISCARD THE ARROW.
-
Hold both ends of the arrow shaft and twist the ends of the shaft in opposite directions at the same time. If the shaft twists easily, it is damaged, DISCARD THE ARROW.
Inspect the nock.
-
Loose nocks or nocks that are backed out of the shaft could indicate a damaged arrow shaft. If the nock is loose (nock is easy to turn or remove), DISCARD THE ARROW.
Arrow Components
-
It is STRONGLY recommended that Acme Custom Arrows components are used in Acme Custom Arrow shafts to ensure proper fit. NEVER shoot an arrow with components that do not fit the arrow, as this will cause damage to the arrow.
